Why is it that some couples have such a hard time communicating?

Dear Mr. Communication,

All people respond, talk, listen, and act differently.  Guys think in a completely different universe than girls. The reason why we have a hard time communicating with the opposite sex is because we expect them to think and respond the way WE would instead of taking into consideration that it doesn't always work like that. I haven't met a whole lot of couples that didn't have to work really hard to be able to communicate well. 


Communicating is a learning process full of compromise, understanding, love, saying your sorry, and admitting you were wrong, patience, and forgiveness.  It doesn't happen over night, but when you finally see a tiny bit of change, it's so worth it.  Now, situations may vary.  Some couples are naturally good communicators (not me!).  If you and your honey are having a hard time getting through to each other, maybe you should find another couple that you trust that has figured communication out.  Ask them questions about how they did it.  Maybe they could give you an easy place to start in regards to communicating well.

Dear Unfair,
First let me just say for everyone's benefit that it's not only boy friends that flirt, but girlfriends do it too.  The unfairness can come from both sides. 

So Since I'm a girl, I'll just say why GIRLS get mad when their boy friends are flirting with other girls.  First of all, it's embarrassing for us.  I mean, here we are, in a relationship, and there you go rubbing shoulders with some other chic.  People will see!

Here's something else to think about.  When we became boyfriend and girlfriend, I extended to you my love and affection.  Wouldn't it be only fair if you returned it?  We are in a committed relationship (or so I thought) and you're acting like you're not satisfied with what we have together.  I don't feel the love and affection that's supposed to be there between a boyfriend and girlfriend.

So there.  That's why girls get mad when their boyfriends are flirting with other girls.  And I'm not just bashing on boys, girls do it too.  A part of being in a relationship is learning to communicate and also to make sacrifices for the person we're with.  If your gf has a problem with you being flirtatious, maybe you should try stopping and working things out.
